We want to keep vaping alive! Please help support the FDA's, The Real Cost, Campaign. It is so very important that we, as adults, have access to vaping. While we can't legally claim any benefits of vaping, we all know what it has done and continues to do, for us on a personal level and why it is important for us to have access to this tobacco-alternative.
We are parents too! We do not want underage teens to vape either. Hence, the complete recent makeover of our website. We have NEVER wanted to appeal to children or teens and that has never been the goal of our company. As adults, we sometimes feel as though the products to which we have access are boring, flavorless, and unappealing. Our goal, and many others', has always been to make vaping more appealing and fun to adults. Unfortunately, what appeals to adults also appeals to children - and that's not a good thing.
From the FDA:
“The Real Cost” Youth E-Cigarette Prevention Campaign
The e-cigarette prevention campaign delivers ads focused on de-bunking myths, and includes images such as this one, from a digital ad entitled, “An epidemic is spreading.”
E-cigarettes surpassed combustible cigarettes as the most commonly used tobacco product among U.S. middle and high school students in 2014.1 By 2017, 2.1 million middle and high school students reported they currently use e-cigarettes,2 with many parents, teachers, and school administrators raising alarm about pervasive vaping in schools. Additional research shows that about 80 percent of youth do not see great risk of harm from regular use of e-cigarettes,3 particularly alarming considering that harm perceptions can influence tobacco use behaviors.
To address this “cost-free” mentality, FDA expanded its award-winning “The Real Cost” campaign to educate the nearly 10.7 million youth aged 12-17 who have ever used e-cigarettes or are open to trying them about the potential risks of e-cigarette use.4 Campaign messages focus on educating youth that using e-cigarettes, just like cigarettes, puts them at risk for addiction and other health consequences.
So let's all work together to abolish teen vaping and keep e-liquids readily available to adults.
STORES: CHECK YOUR CUSTOMERS' ID'S ALWAYS.
PARENTS: Treat vaping the same as you would any other alternative. Help us not to glorify vaping. It's difficult because we love it for what we believe it has done for smokers.* We know. But in the eyes of our kids, if we glorify it, they will believe it's okay for them also. It's NOT.
Let's work together to always remember that this is an addictive and potentially harmful chemical and our children should see any addiction as BAD. Just because it 's an alternative to tobacco, it has not been proven to be completely harmless.**
Therefore, let's use good judgement. Let's teach our kids that this is a choice of what we hope is our own pathway to recovery* because of the bad decision to choose smoking that we once made.
